Nissan Headquarters is finally open in Cool Springs

Brentwood TN Homes

I don't know how many of you read the Sunday Tennessean and the articles on Nissan and its employees but, Nissan...welcome to Tennessee! You will love it! Yeah, I know the bugs aren't fun, but you make it up with the beautiful seasons you will soon see. In the Tennessean, they listed and mapped several restaurants in the Cool Springs area. I just wanted to name a few that were not on the list.

Puffy Muffin is one of Brentwood's own. I love going with a group of friends and having some fruit tea and their southwest chicken quiche. It is to die for! Puffy Muffin is on Franklin Rd. between Old Hickory Blvd and Concord Rd. In the Publix shopping center on Old Hickory Blvd., you need to visit Pei Wei and Zoe's. Zoe's is great if your watching those extra pounds or are tired from the fast-food joints and just want to eat something healthy.

Lastly, for all you Executives (which I got the pleasure of meeting some), there is Mere Bulles. They have a wonderful lunch and dinner menu that will impress any out of town executive or significant others.

Enjoy the Southern Hospitality here. I promise you'll never want to go back.

Williamson County Fair - Red, White, and Blue Ribbon

The Williamson County fair is almost here. It officially starts August 1st-August 9th. It will be at the Williamson Ag Expo. For the last 3 years our family has gone and one thing I always remember...that is right in the dead heat of summer. The humidity is high and you perspire like crazy, but you have so much fun being out there with the kids!

I always wanted to enter the Pie contest and enter my lemon meringue pie. My friends and family love it, but I never felt confident enough that mine might be that good. Maybe this is the year!

Below is the link to the Williamson County fair and you can find out all the information for the concerts, games, contests, etc. I'll bring back some photos!

The kids will be starting school SOON!

It's that time of year. The kids will be starting school and that means "relocation time"! If you are looking for a great neighborhood in Brentwood with kids, look at Foxboro, River Oaks, Wildwood or Brenthaven. Every time I drive around, I always see kids in these neighborhood's riding their bikes, playing in the street or sitting under the tree with their friends. If schools are important, check out the Tennessee Department of Education. Choose the system (or county) you want to search and then choose the individual school you want. This website will show you the grades the school has earned for the last 3 years. I use this all the time to make sure my kids school is always up to par.

If you need help with the website from the Dept. of Education or your ready to relocate to Brentwood, TN, let me know. I'd love to show you and your family around!

How do you find a good Brentwood Agent?

The best agent doesn't necessarily mean she works at the largest brokerage, closes the most transactions or makes the most money. The best agent is an experienced professional who will listen to your wants and needs. He/She will know your market and, most importantly, will conduct herself in an ethical manner.

This last one is why I went into Real Estate. I was born into construction. All the way back to my great-grandfather and never thought this would happen to me. One day my husband and I walked into the sales trailer of a subdivision in Spring Hill, TN where we wanted to build in. The agent working there showed us some houses in the subdivision and their floorplans. We signed a contract to build, put our $10,000 deposit/earnest money down and was excited to finally build our dream home. To make a long story short, do to economic times, we lost our loan 2 weeks before we were to close. We lost our house, which we had sold for what we owed on it and walked away from $37,000 that we had invested in the house we had built. All because we didn't have representation!! The real estate agent we had was the sellers agent for our home, her "assistant" was the buyers agent. The real estate agent we had was also the buyer and sellers agent for the new house! Oh, my, Lord, if I would have known my rights then!

I can't stress this enough. ALWAYS have a real estate agent with you. Even if you don't feel it is necessary or that you "just want to look at houses." There are some agents that are only into this business for themselves.

My advice...stay away from the sales trailer unless you have someone representing you and your families needs.

Williamson County School District -WHAT!!

As some of you read this morning in the Tennessean, Knight's article about the Assessment Director for Williamson County School District, Chris Nugent inadvertently posting personal data, including Social Security numbers, of thousands of elementary kids on his website. Mostly second graders and seniors that took their ACT this year.

It's hard to understand, but the District knew about this months ago and just notified those parents this week of whose child(ren) were breached, that this occured. Knight's comment in her article was one as myself and other parents are asking how can this happen. She goes on to say, "Thousands of employees of W.C. schools have access to various components of our families' personal information. So many people, with so much data. All we can do is trust, and this case is going to make that a real challenge.

Come on Williamson County let's get it together! Not only are we looking at the potential of Franklin Special School District joining with Williamson County School District. Which would only put more strain on our budget, but we need to vote for a new Sheriff this year, because the other one failed us because he was addicted to drugs and got caught.

The houses and the people that are in those houses love it here! I hope we can get these kinks worked out and still keep Williamson County the best place to live in Tennessee!

The June Numbers Are In!

The Williamson County Association of Realtors have posted the numbers for June. There were 327 residential and condominiums closings reported for the month, according to figures provided by RealTracs solution.

Compared to June of 2007, the residential home closings decreased 33 percent and the median price for residential homes decreased by 3 percent. Days on the market (DOM) for residential homes increased by 14 as compared to June 2007. Condominium closings decreased by 54 percent. The median prices for condominiums increased by 1 percent and days on the market also increased by 8 days compared to June 2007.

In May of 2008, their were 321 residential and 25 condominium closings. The average price for residential properties was $440,864 and the median price was $370,000.

This shows that it is still a buyers market. There is still plenty of inventory to choose from for the buyer. Sellers have to be accurate with their pricing. Sellers can have so many amenities and added features to their homes, but in this market it is all about pricing.
